Dating or Learning? The True Nature Of Relationships.

The most powerful force in the universe is the universe itself
It will bring us exactly what we need exactly when we need it
Trying to control it is like swimming upstream in a river of mud
Flowing with it is like sailing gently in a river of opportunities

When we connect with someone through the internet and we take the time to look beyond the obvious to the learning that is concealed in our coming together, we go beyond the realm of dating and into something far more powerful. We go to a place where true soul connections are formed. In this place, much of what we thought was important in a partner becomes irrelevant.

For many of us this can be a frightening place because we have set views on appearance, age, location, education, career and other criteria that we hold as important. Yet in this place those prerequisites vanish as we are confronted with something much deeper. This is a meeting predicated on nothing more than spiritual connection. It transcends dating and romance, it is an opportunity for us to learn and grow.

Some people find this situation uncomfortable. There may be a tendency to run, to find fault, to blame the other person for being ‘too this’ or ‘not enough that’ or ‘nothing like their picture’ … and in so doing the lesson might be missed altogether. We are, of course, all free to move on until we find someone that fits our personal preferences, at which point we will probably experience short term relief, often followed not long afterwards by a sense of disappointment when we again find that we still have to face the same lesson, albeit in a more attractive package.

Life is simply a series of situations designed to make us aware of all the unconscious habitual patterns playing out in us – so that we can step free of them and be our true selves. As we work our way through them, it is as if we are gradually clearing clouds away so that the radiant sunshine of our real nature can shine through.

It really doesn’t matter if the people we meet are big, small, light or dark, this religion or that, this background or another … the lessons we need to set us free come in all shapes and sizes. They might be 'Mr or Miss Right' or they might just be 'Mr or Miss Right Now', but everyone represents a valuable stepping stone on our path towards what is ultimately waiting for us.
